VSHJ Fundraiser Event on Sunday, February 14th

The Victoria Society for Humanistic Judaism, a community of cultural Jews, will hold a fundraiser for the Temple Emanu-El Syrian Refugee Project on Sunday, February 14th at 2:00 pm at the Jewish Community Centre of Victoria, 3636 Shelbourne Street.

A delightful film, “A Tickle in the Heart” about Klezmer music legends, the Epstein Brothers, will be shown and delicious Valentine’s Day type refreshments served. There will also be a chocolate raffle.

The film is a portrait of the Epstein Brothers, as they come out of retirement and travel to Germany and Poland to help facilitate the current revival of Jewish klezmer music. A description of the film can be seen at:

VSHJ Tu B’Shevat Celebration on Sunday, January 24th

Please join us as we celebrate Tu B’Shevat, also known as the “New Year for Trees” and now considered the ‘Jewish Arbor Day” or the “Jewish Earth Day”.
We will have a seder where we eat different types of fruits; with shells, with pits, edible inside and out, and we drink white and red fruit juices to reflect on our connection with the trees and the earth throughout the four seasons of the year.
After the seder, there will be a guest speaker.
Refreshments will be served. Everyone is welcome.
Sunday, January 24, 2016 from 2 pm – 4 pm
