This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Victoria Society for Humanistic Judaism. How it came to be is part happenstance combined with individual initiative ignited by the late Irving Margolese. The result: today’s diverse and evolving VSHJ collective, fostering compassion for the living condition through rational discourse and critical appreciation of more than 4,000 years of Jewish thought and experience – in secular and current contexts.
Two decades are but a blip in 40 centuries. Nonetheless, the two decades we now celebrate are no less vital than countless links connecting what came before with what followed.
